Tulia Group CIC Featured in The Guardian Following Migrant Care Worker Report

Tulia Group CIC’s work supporting migrant families and care workers has been featured in a recent article published by The Guardian, highlighting the growing challenges many migrant workers and their families are facing across the UK.

The article discusses deeply concerning cases involving children and dependants receiving Home Office letters instructing them to leave the UK, despite families having entered the country lawfully under previous care worker visa rules.

At Tulia Group CIC, these are not isolated stories. They reflect the realities we encounter daily through our legal advice, advocacy, community support, and migrant outreach work.

The Guardian article also references findings from our recent migrant care worker survey, which explored the emotional, social, and economic impact of proposed immigration changes on sponsored care workers and their families.

Through our work, we continue to hear from families experiencing:

  • visa refusals and curtailment notices

  • uncertainty around dependants and sponsorship

  • threats to family unity

  • emotional distress linked to immigration insecurity

  • fear about settlement and long-term stability in the UK

Many migrant workers have contributed enormously to the UK’s health and social care system while simultaneously navigating significant personal sacrifice, financial pressures, and uncertainty regarding their futures.

Behind every immigration decision is a real person:

  • a parent trying to provide for their children,

  • a child settled in school,

  • a worker caring for vulnerable people across the UK,

  • and families trying to build stability after arriving lawfully and contributing positively to society.

Our survey reflected growing anxiety amongst migrant care workers around settlement pathways, family separation, and long-term security. Many respondents expressed feelings of exhaustion, uncertainty, and concern about their future despite years of work and contribution within the UK care sector.

We know there are many more people affected who remain silent due to fear, confusion, shame, or lack of access to support.

If you or someone you know has:

  • received a refusal letter

  • received a curtailment notice

  • experienced sponsorship issues

  • faced separation from family members

  • encountered immigration difficulties linked to care work or dependant visas

We encourage you to reach out to Tulia Group CIC by emailing info@tulia.org.uk or booking a consultation to speak to a legal advisor here

We want to continue listening, documenting these experiences, and supporting migrant communities through practical advice, advocacy, and community-based support.

The more these stories are brought into the light, the harder they are to ignore.
