More Than Legal Advice: Why Holistic Support Matters for Migrants

Earlier this year, we supported a client through one of the most complex and emotionally charged cases we have encountered. She was a skilled worker visa holder who had suffered a serious spinal cord injury, spent nearly a year in rehabilitation, and was discharged to a care home with no income, her children in care, and an urgent need for Indefinite Leave to Remain, but no means to pursue it alone.

What followed is a powerful example of what becomes possible when holistic legal support, community, and care come together.

Freedom Ministry International and the 6AM Prayer Group rallied around her, offering daily prayer, encouragement, and financial support through a community crowdfunding campaign. She was not left to face this alone.

Her application was submitted and granted within weeks.

For her, this outcome means stability, dignity, and a foundation from which she can now focus on her recovery and, in time, her family. But it also means something beyond her individual circumstance, it is proof that when organisations and communities work together, people who might otherwise fall through the cracks can be reached, supported, and seen.
