We Stand with Migrants Facing Raids in Los Angeles

This week, immigration officers in Los Angeles have carried out large raids—going into workplaces, arresting people, and even deporting some of them quickly. Many of those affected are long-time residents, parents, workers, and people with no criminal records. Some didn’t even know they were signing papers that would send them out of the country. This is heartbreaking and wrong.

At Tulia, we work with migrants every day, people just like those in Los Angeles, who are doing their best to build a safe life for themselves and their families. We know how scary it is to live with the fear of being taken away. That’s why we stand in full solidarity with every person and family affected by these raids.

What’s Happening in LA?

  • Immigration officers (ICE) have arrested people at work and in the streets.

  • Some were tricked into signing deportation papers.

  • People are being sent away quickly—without proper legal help.

  • Families are being separated.

  • Children don’t know if their parents will come home.

  • People are too afraid to go to work, school, or even leave their homes.

Even schools and graduation ceremonies had to be declared “safe zones” by officials to protect students and families from being arrested. This shows how serious and widespread the fear has become

At Tulia, we believe no one should live in fear because of their immigration status. Every person deserves:

  • Safety

  • Dignity

  • A chance to build a life without fear

We know that these raids don’t just hurt individuals—they break up families, scare whole communities, and create trauma that lasts for years. We see this in our work every day.

Our team provides:

  • Legal advice and support

  • Mental health and trauma services

  • Community and peer support

We do this work because we believe that migration is not a crime, and people deserve to be treated with care and respect, no matter their papers.

We are calling on all governments to:

  • Stop targeting peaceful families and workers

  • Give people proper legal advice before any decisions are made

  • Protect children and families from being separated

  • Build fair, kind, and human immigration systems

To everyone in Los Angeles and around the world living through this fear—we see you, we believe you, and we stand with you.

You are not alone.
