Standing Together for Fairness: Our Call on Settlement Rights
We are honoured to stand alongside MPs, peers, civil society organisations, and sector leaders in raising serious concerns about the Government's proposed changes to settlement rights for migrant workers.
Tulia Group CIC is proud to have added our voice to the open letter led by Neil Duncan-Jordan MP, addressed to the Home Secretary, calling for transparency, fairness, and thoughtful reform. The letter, signed by over 50 parliamentarians and dozens of civil society organisations, urges the Government to halt its consultation until a full Impact Assessment is published, and to immediately rule out applying any new rules retrospectively to migrant families already living in the UK.
Those who have built their lives here, contributed to our communities, and supported essential public services, particularly in social care, deserve fairness, stability, and policies grounded in evidence, not uncertainty. Doubling the qualifying period for Indefinite Leave to Remain, and extending it further for care workers already wrongly deemed "low-skilled," is not only deeply unfair, it risks pulling the rug from under the very people our communities depend on.
A sustainable care sector and a strong society depend on recognising the dignity, value, and long-term contributions of migrant workers. With adult social care already facing around 110,000 vacancies, this is no time for reforms that push dedicated workers, and an already stretched sector, closer to breaking point.
We are grateful to be part of this collective call, and we will continue to advocate for the people and communities we serve.
